A new Political Force to Recon with

I think as humans we've proven that you can't make society better through self enrichment.

Self enrichment is deadly to society.  For us to succeed, and even survive the product of our labor has to be distributed more equitably.

imagine you're playing a board game and one of the rules of the game is that if you acquire enough points, you can buy changes to the rules of the game and then imagine someone has acquired so many points that the rules no longer makes sense for anyone but that player and their select friends. that's exactly where we are today.

people who work hard for a living making things or providing a service pay around 25 or 30% of their income in taxes while ultra wealthy people who make money by either lending money at painful rates or simply sitting on their own money are taxed at a much lower or 0% rate because of the avoidance strategies that they've baked into the rules.

this is not a pro communist screed-communism at an incredibly superficial level can seem appealing, but it completely neglects human nature.

and this certainly is not a call to arms as I am a pacifist. I don't think any form of violence, physical, or verbal solves anything.

Sadly, I don't think it's enough to just change the rules back to a more fair set of rules mostly because the average American hasn't been taught the rulebook at all.

I think America needs to have a nationwide learning event to teach everyone -  here and visiting, and anyone in the world interested - how our government operates : literally the mechanics of it. older generations assume that young people are taught the same things in school that they were taught, but by and large, because politics has been such a third rail, divisive topic for the last decade, young people are not being taught the fundamentals of a functioning government. they're not being taught about checks and balances. they're not being taught about how local government drives most of the changes in their life.

I think the single most radical thing any anti capitalist, anti corporate activist could do in this society Today would be simply to find a way to get people to attend local meetings.

The local meeting is the nerve ending of the body politic.

if everyone felt engaged in their local politics, then their local politicians would feel the need to be more engaged in state politics, and the bullshit would start running back up stream until it blasted out the top like a shit volcano in Washington DC.

that's why I've decided to start the shit volcano party or the SV party for short.

Our entire platform will be about driving increasing engagement in local politics. The shit volcano party will take no views on any issues whatsoever unless they directly involve engagement in civic participation.

If any party democratic, republican or other proposes legislation that the SV party feels would lead to decreasing public participation, We will work actively against that legislation.

Real examples today might be legislation aimed at reducing access to public transit , legislation unsupportive of paid time off for Civic engagement, legislation that would lead to degradation of public facilities and roads, and any legislation that would cause people to fear for their or their family safety because of their participation.

If any human being in our society feels unwelcome or unsafe at a public meeting, we have failed as a country, and the shit volcano party aim to fix it.
